These are the rules for using Champ. They are short on purpose. By creating an account or accepting an invitation you agree to them.
What Champ is
Champ is a shared place for the plan around a child with additional support needs: goals, documents, calendar, messages and, where the team chooses, medication. It is provided by JP de Groot, trading as Champ, in Wellington, New Zealand (a limited company will take over this role and these terms will be updated when it does).
What Champ is not
Champ is not medical advice, an emergency service, or a replacement for the professional judgement of the people on a child's team. The plain-language summaries and drafts Champ produces with artificial intelligence are aids to reading, not clinical or educational opinions. Always check them against the original document, and always follow a health professional's instructions over anything written in Champ. In an emergency, call 111.
Your account
Accounts are created by invitation. Keep your password private and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what is done under it. One person, one account: do not share a login, because the Team tab must show truthfully who can see a child.
Whose information it is
The information about a child belongs to that child and their family. Everyone else on the team is a guest, invited by the people who manage the profile, who may change or end that access at any time. When you leave a team, or are removed, you lose access to that child's profile but what you contributed stays, because that continuity is the point of Champ.
How to behave
Write about children the way you would want your own child written about: honestly, kindly, and only what the team needs to know. Only add information you are entitled to share. Do not upload anything you do not have permission to upload. Do not use Champ to harass anyone, to store information about a child you have no role in supporting, or to do anything unlawful. We can suspend an account that breaks these rules.
Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how it is protected. It is part of these terms.
Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Champ available and to keep your information safe, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. We will give notice of planned outages where we can. We may change or improve Champ; if a change removes something people rely on, we will say so in advance. If Champ ever closes, profile managers will get at least 90 days' notice and a way to download everything.
Fees
Champ is free for parents and caregivers, always. Schools, practices and other organisations may be charged a subscription; where that applies, the price and terms are agreed with the organisation in writing and are not affected by anything on this page.
Liability
To the extent New Zealand law allows, Champ is provided as-is and we are not liable for loss arising from your use of it or from decisions made using information in it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those apply.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time by emailing hello@champ.kiwi. Profile managers can delete a child's profile from the About page. We can close an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why.
