Two minutes, start to finish. Champ keeps everything about a child's support in one place, shared with the people around them, so that when someone moves on, what they knew stays with the child.
Champ works by invitation, on purpose. A family, a school or a practice comes on board first, and from there the people around each child are invited in one by one: parents and whānau, the teacher, the teacher aide, the therapist. Nobody arrives uninvited, and nobody sees a child they are not part of. Once you are in, you can add a child yourself and invite their team.
If an invitation has landed in your inbox, you are already expected. Create your account with the same email address it was sent to and you will find the child waiting for you. If your school or practice is not on Champ yet, say hello here and a real person in Wellington will write back within a few days.

Everything you do in the demo is saved, so it feels real; "Start again" in the orange banner puts the sample family back the way it began. Inviting real people, recording meetings and AI summaries are switched off in the demo. When you are ready for the real thing, the button at the top of every demo page asks for full access.
The children and updates you see on the front page and in the demo are made up, to show how Champ feels. A real child's profile is only ever seen by the people on their team.
A new profile comes with a short checklist: upload what you already have, write (or draft) the profile, add a photo, add a first goal, invite the team. Do them in any order, and do not worry about getting it perfect. Everything can be changed later, and the team will add to it as you go.
Where you land. At a glance sits on top: anything waiting for you, each goal with its status, what is coming up, medication for those who need it, and the latest documents, all in a few lines each. Underneath is Moments, the team's good-news board. The faces under the child's name are the team. If you only have a minute, this is the page to look at.
The team's good-news board. A few words or a photo of something the child made, managed or enjoyed. Anyone on the team can share, and anyone can tap the heart or reply underneath. Photos are shrunk on your phone before they upload, and only the team ever sees them.
Under every goal, document, moment and funding record there is a place to reply. That is where the team talks about the thing itself, out in the open, so whoever joins next can see how it was decided.
Who this child is, written by the people who know them best: About, What helps, What is hard, Background. Plain words are perfect. If documents have already been uploaded, Champ can draft these sections for you to check and change.
What everyone is working on together, one sentence each, grouped by area and in the order the team chooses. Each goal has a status (Working towards, Meeting or Exceeding), the people looking after it, and a history of updates. Add an update whenever you notice something; short is perfect.
Reports, plans, letters, photos. A clear name (what it is, who it is from, when) and a label or two make them easy to find later. Champ can draft a plain-language summary to save the team some reading. Summaries are written by AI and checked by a parent before anyone else sees them, and every one carries a label saying so. They are a way in to a document, not a replacement for reading it. Who can open each document is set on the document itself: one tick per person, everyone ticked to start with, and the people who manage the profile always included. Untick one person for one document and nothing else changes. Sort the list by date or name, narrow it to one label or one person, or search across names, labels and summaries. Record a conversation is here too, for the chat at pick-up or the phone call that was never on the calendar: Champ adds it to the calendar for right now, records it and writes it up. Any recording still being written up, or waiting for a parent to check, sits at the top of the list until it is approved. Funding and support sits at the bottom of this tab.
Meetings, reviews, appointments and anything else with a date. For each entry, tick who is attending and who should simply be kept informed; both hear about it and get a reminder 2 days before. Afterwards, jot down what was decided so it is there for next time, and connect any minutes or reports to the entry. Or let Champ record the meeting: press Record, and it tells the room out loud that it is recording, beeps, listens, types it up and drafts the notes in three parts: In short, What was said, and What was decided (left empty if nothing was). While it works, the page shows its progress and nothing else. A parent reads the draft, changes anything, and approves it; the notes then land in Documents with the full transcript at the bottom as the back-up. The recording itself is deleted the moment it is typed up. Until the notes are approved, the recording sits at the top of Documents as being written up or to check, so nothing is lost if someone clicks away. Taken an entry off the calendar by mistake? Put it back on; or, if it should never have been there, a parent can delete it for good.
The speech-bubble button at the bottom right of every page for a child. This is for a private word: pick one person or several from the team, write your message, and only the people you picked can read it. It unfolds where you are, so you never lose your place. Nobody outside the child's team can ever be messaged, and these conversations do not appear in the Timeline.
Optional, and only visible to people who have the section turned on. If it helps, keep what a child takes, when, where it is kept and who may give it in one place, and log doses or observations as you go. Those entries appear in the Timeline alongside everything else.
Everyone around the child, and what each person can see. Three levels cover most people: Manages everything (usually parents), Can add and comment (teachers and therapists), Can look, not change (people who need to stay in the picture). The people who manage the profile can invite, change or remove anyone, whenever they need to. For the rare person who should see less, untick a section (goals, documents, calendar, medication) on their page; which individual documents they can open is decided on each document, not here. Inviting starts with an email address: someone who already uses Champ gets a notification to say yes, someone new gets a link to create their account.
Everything that has happened, newest first, grouped by month: what was added, changed, written up or removed, and who joined or moved on. A good way to catch up when you are new, to hand over when you are moving on, or to check when something changed.
Teachers, therapists and RTLB belong to an organisation: a school, a practice, a cluster. A supervisor can see every child their organisation works with and invite colleagues. When a supervisor opens a child's profile they join the team visibly, and the parents are let know.
Anyone can close their own account from Settings. What they added stays with each child, shown as from Former team member, so a child's story keeps no holes when an adult moves on. Deleting a child's whole profile is deliberately not a button: a parent asks from the profile's edit page, a real person at Champ checks it is the family, and then it is done and the team is told.
The bell at the top shows what has happened since you last looked; tap it and the list unfolds right where you are. Champ also emails you about new activity, unless you would rather it did not (you can turn that off in Settings), and can send a quiet notification to your phone once Champ is on your home screen. The question mark next to the bell explains whatever page you are on.
Nothing. Champ is run by parents, for parents, and looked after in evenings and weekends. Storage, transcription and hosting cost about $10 a month for each child on it. If it has made a school year easier and you are in a position to chip in, our Givealittle page keeps it going for the next family. Champ Limited is a company, not a charity, so donations are not tax deductible.
Champ works in any browser, and it is nicest as an icon on your home screen: full screen, always signed in, and able to send you a quiet notification when something changes.
