Yes. Champ is free for families and there are no ads. It is not a business chasing profit: it is looked after by the Champ team and kept going by donations. If families ever had to be charged, they would be told well ahead and be free to leave.

Who can see my child’s information?

Only the people the parents invite to the child’s team. Champ staff look at it only when a family asks for help.

Who starts a child’s Champ?

Usually a parent. Anyone can create an account in about a minute, start their child’s profile and invite the team one by one. Someone who works with the child, such as a specialist, teacher or therapist, can also start it on the parents’ behalf. When a parent joins with Manages everything, the keys pass to them, and the person who started it stays on the team with Can add and comment. The parents can change anyone’s access at any time.

Is my child’s information used to train AI?

No. Nothing about a child is sold or used to train anything. Summaries are drafted by a computer and checked by a person before anyone else sees them. They restate what a document says, and never interpret it, suggest a cause or give medical advice.

Do I need 2-step sign-in?

For parents and carers it is optional. It asks for a code as well as your password, from an authenticator app or by email. It is needed by people who are not family and are on the teams of 2 or more children, by organisation supervisors and by Champ administrators. If your phone is not to hand, the code page can email you a code instead, and the Champ team can help after checking it is really you.

What happens if we leave Champ?

You can export everything about your child and take it with you. If Champ ever has to close, families hear first, with time to take everything, and then it is deleted. Nothing is handed on.

What Champ is

Champ keeps everything about a child's support in one place, shared with the people around them: parents and carers, the GP or paediatrician, the teacher, the therapist. When someone moves on, what they knew stays with the child, and whoever comes next reads for 10 minutes instead of starting from nothing.

It was designed and built in New Zealand, and it is looked after by the Champ team. It is free, there are no ads, and nothing about a child is sold or used to train anything. A real child's profile is only ever seen by the people on their team.
